We generally work with small businesses and nonprofits with 1-250 employees.
We also provide outsourced bookkeeping services to other accounting firms, PEOs, and other companies that want to offer bookkeeping services to their clients (through our White Label Partnership Program). White Label Partners are typically larger than our average small business client.
BooksTime rates tend to be far below standard market rates, especially considering the level of service provided. How do we do it?
We embrace modern technology. In the last couple years, cloud-based bookkeeping software has made it easy to do bookkeeping completely remotely. By offering remote services, we’re able to take advantage of differences in market rates for bookkeepers in different states and regions. Even within a single state, bookkeeper wages can vary dramatically. Take Massachusetts, our home state, for example. The market rate for bookkeepers in the western regions of Massachusetts is, on average, about 50% of the rate in the eastern regions. A bookkeeper in Boston (which is in the east) might make twice as much as a bookkeeper in Amherst (which is in the west) even if they have the same exact qualifications. If you hire a bookkeeper to work in your office, you have to pay whatever the going rate is in your area. With bookkeepers working remotely in US locations with low cost of living, as well as in 3 offices in Europe and 1 in the Philippines, BooksTime can offer you the best possible rates on high-quality bookkeeping.
Yes. Many of our clients operate in multiple countries and use multiple currencies. Get in touch for a free consultation.
BooksTime can connect you with a tax accountant (a CPA or EA) to take care of your tax returns and to provide tax guidance. Your dedicated BooksTime bookkeeper will coordinate directly with the tax accountant to make sure they get what they need in time for tax season. We can also help with a broad range of work related to state and local tax filings, as well as payroll administration.
We work with clients with any software or no software at all. View our full software FAQ here.

All bookkeeping services are provided by BooksTime bookkeepers. Our bookkeepers are located in the United States, 3 offices in Europe, and 1 office in the Philippines. Some clients work only with the overseas team, others work only with the US team. Most work with a combination of both. The bookkeepers in our overseas offices have extensive experience in bookkeeping for American businesses and strong GAAP knowledge.
Unlike many of our competitors, our overseas staff do not work for loosely affiliated, separate, third-party subcontractors. Bookkeepers on our overseas teams are our own personnel, supervised by BooksTime employees, working in BooksTime’s offices. All of BooksTime’s locations and teams are owned and controlled by the same US entity. We are committed to providing bookkeeping that consistently meets the highest standards, so we keep complete control over our overseas operations.
